with us, the amount was covered by a deposit of coin in

the Colony.

4. The amount of security required now appears to

be one-third of $10,000,000 plus 25,000,000 i.e. £8,333,333

(Mexican dollars) or 5/9th of the total capital of

$15,000,000, together with a further sun representing

the difference between the rate of the Straits Settlements

and Mexicon dollar in respect of 5/9th of the notes

circulating in the Straits Settlements. I enclose an

amended valuation calculated on this basis.
